Beating Hearts

Afraid not of tears
But a cold and dark heart
Baring soul brings fear
Pain paints the art

Thinking back before life
I saw you’d be there
A friend in your soul
Something deep we would share

Together we found
The world sometimes dark
Our peace was sound
In silence so stark

No answers in mind
For injustice in life
Love pure and kind
Guiding your light

Wishing to know
Just for your peace
Giving your all
But not your release

By you, I stay
‘Til death do us part
Even though it may
Tear through my heart

Only we understand
True love, pure and real
Giving all that we can
Risking wounds that won’t heal

Learned over time
What born into us
A treasure to find
Most glorious

All I can say
Dear friend of mine
Fearless tears are the way
Beating hearts always shine.

Emptiness

As light enters
And fills
My eyes

I wake
With question of
Whether to rise

I stand, and carry
With me
My mind so wary

Drudging up stairs
Through doors
Down streets

Buzzing with life
All
Asleep

I watch
That which passes
Some days without thought

As it
Stands still
I stop

I live not
In my life
But a dream

What
All
Is it worth?

What
All
Does it mean?

I want to be
More
But feel that I’m less

Trapped in
My existence
Emptiness
